Rory McLean – ‘Waiting for the Night’

Rory McLean is a philosophy student at the university of York in the UK, and is an up-and-coming musician. He write and records in his student house in York, spending most of his time skipping lectures to work on his music. He is 22 and produces everything himself, playing all the instruments on his recordings.

‘Waiting for the Night’ is Rory’s debut single and was written during the UK lockdown in 2020, while he was locked in at his parent’s house, away from most of his instruments. As a result, it’s a more stripped back sound compared to Rory’s upcoming psychedelic rock music (yet to be released). The track features distorted synths, guitar lines, breakbeat drum samples and soaring vocals. The feeling of the track embodies this separation from other people while reminiscing about intimate nights spent with a lover.
