The Portland Sound – “Oxbow Lake”

The Portland Sound is a geographically remote artistic collaboration between Jon Dye and Matt Champness, two songwriter/producers. The duo began releasing their work over the Covid 19 pandemic lockdown and has not looked back. Recently they have released a new EP titled The Oxbow Lake EP.

The title track of this new EP has a gorgeous acoustic sound that builds into a fun yet calming sythy beat. The song feels like a cinematic experience working your way into a natural oasis. You can hear the elements shift and unfold as the song continues and if you close your eyes its easy to picture this foretold “Oxbow Lake”.

Despite their lack of geographic proximity, The Portland Sound Duo seems to work like a flawless unit. Listening to their music is always an eclectic and centering experience. “Oxbow Lake” is a brilliant example of their work. It is more than enough motivation to dive into the discography of The Portland Sound.

If you haven’t had the chance to check out The Portland Sound or any of the incredible tracks on The Oxbow Lake EP, now is the time to do so. This duo is truly unique and does an incredible job of blending styles to create something anyone could daydream to.
