We Spoke with I Passed Away about His Latest Release ‘Monster’

What inspired your newest track ‘Monster’?
My newest track, monster, was actually a long time in the making. Started with the beat from Negara, a producer from Australia. I had originally purchased these beats for an EP of 6 I was going to create but I ended up wanting to just make singles. The track was fun to make, there wasn’t necessarily a strong point behind it, but it’s kinda about being yourself, being true.

‘Monster’ features Elgie, who seems to be a frequent collaborator. What makes that relationship so productive?
Elgie is actually a long time friend that I met going into 6th grade. He and I were pretty close while I was in middle school, but we lost connection for all of high school. When I started making music he reached out on my snapchat to make a track with me. Since then we’ve been having frequent collaborations. I probably shouldn’t forget to mention that he was one of the first members of SLC lol.

Can you explain the Sad Love Club to our followers who may not know? What brought you all together?
SLC or sad love club is simply a group of creators. We are all individual entities/artists but we often times hang out so we often times make tracks with one another. By no means are we really a band or anything though. It’s something I’ve pieced together and worked on for a bit.

I’ve noticed this year alone you’ve released multiple singles this year. Have you had to chance to work with any notable producers on them?
This year I’ve worked a lot with Negara and Oscar Schipp. I’ve had the chance to work with 16yrsold and I plan on releasing two tracks with him sometime soon. A notable past producer is Charlie Shuffler, who did a few of my bigger songs like Dawn (which has a pretty cool YouTube music video).

What’s the next release we should be keeping an eye out for?
My next track coming out is May 15th, titled Tonight. The following track is titled Journey releasing May 29th! Both singles are completely different styles so I hope there’s something for everyone to enjoy. Follow I Passed Away on Spotify to be notified of the release.
