Leiza Michaels is currently a Florida based performer who has recently re-released her Jazz album of Original Compositions “New Standards”, as Nuevos Estándares. This album embodies the bold, beautiful, as well as engaging and intimate sound in the style of the songs from the Great American Songbook. The six songs on the album each bring their own level of beauty, social significance and entertainment value to them, as well as show off the gorgeous voice, talent and gifted song writing capabilities of Michaels herself.
Nuevos Estándares was originally released in English, an album which features beautiful and relatable songs. Her being brought up in a family with Matriarchal figures at the head she strongly relates to many conditions that affects the Female gender in Society. This new version is just as amazing and features the songs in a wonderful new light. The recording was done to highlight interpretations from the Spanish language which is Leiza’s heritage. And a part of a culture she missed and longed for growing up in America. Thus, she dedicated the Spanish language CD to her relatives in Spain. This addition to Michaels’ discography shows off her diversity and energy as a musician.
On top of the songs simply being well done, they have also been submitted in seven categories for consideration in the upcoming 22nd Annual Latin Grammy Awards. Michaels’ dedication to her work, as one of the hardest working and kindest people in show business, is sure to take her far in her career.
