Muskellunge – ‘Dutch Elm’

Noise Pop masters of the early ’90s, Muskellunge reunited during COVID and are releasing their first full-length album In a Mess, In a State, and a Second Too Late (11/18/21). Described as “The Pixies if fronted by Kim Deal” and recently, “the best Minneapolis band you’ve never heard” by a Seattle radio program director, Muskellunge was a Minneapolis favorite for their clamorous live shows. On the rim of a record deal they mysteriously disbanded and the lead singer roamed the Southwest for 17 years.

“Dutch Elm” is a droning yet jangly lullaby about an ambivalent love affair that conslcues in playful ear-worm ba-duh-ba-ba’s. In a Mess, In a State, and a Second Too Late is angular and catchy, with bouncing bass and gently sardonic vocals.
