The Portland Sound – “Kounoupi”

The Portland Sound is a musical collaboration from geographically remote duo Jon Dye and Matt Champness. Their newest release is a song titled “Kounoupi”, for the Greek island near where one of the members vacationed. The song has a smooth Electronic sound that depicts the feeling of thoughts drifting through your mind as you drift off on an island.

The island for which “Kounoupi” is named after, derives its own title from the word mosquito. In the song, you can hear the few spots where this little bug zips by, disrupting the bubbly beat of a thought. This song is unique in the way that it is both calming and energetic. It’s easy to listen to the track and forget about the world, but it’s just as easy to get lost in figuring out the intricacies of it all.

While this track has a Chill Electronic vibe, it is far from the only style of The Portland Sound. The duo has a collection of different sounds ranging from Electronica to Folk, Classical to Pop and is not limited by anything but their own imagination.

If you need a moment to breathe deeply, “Kounoupi” is the track to check out. The Portland sound has done an incredible job with this track and have a collection of other interesting pieces to check. It would be a loss to not pay attention to this interesting duo.
